Description Andreas Dehmel 2007-01-02 17:59:02 UTC
Stage1 completed successfully, Stage2 took a while and then bombed with an
error in GLIClientController.py (this is a different error than the ones
filed regarding root password and mounted partitions). I'll attach my
/tmp/installerprofile.xml and /var/log/installer.log files. And I was so
happy the LiveCD ran fine and also configured the ethernet devices without
any hassles.
Quick help highly appreciated...

The stage2 code is apparently a tad broken, but stage1/2 installs are no longer supported (and haven't been for 2 releases), so the code will be removed soon. Therefore, I have very little motivation to fix it :P

Well...

The bug is "valid" you just aren't going to fix it. Least you could have done was given it the right resolution... :P

Comment 6 Andreas Dehmel 2007-01-03 09:07:51 UTC
Fair enough, but can you please give me a pointer on how to proceed (this
being my first Gentoo install (been using Debian so far), just mentioning
"the docs" is not terribly helpful and information contained in the handbook
that comes with the LiveCD is rather basic as well; specific chapters of the
docs would be a great help, though). In particular I'd like to know whether
I have to actually clean the system / wipe the partitions or whether there's
a way I can build on top of what was already done.
Thanks for the quick processing of this bug, BTW.
