I cannot connect to AIM (via Oscar) or ICQ using kopete 0.5, 0.6, 0.6.1 or cvs. When I try to connect to AIM I get this error on stderr: QerverSocket: failed to bind or listen to the socket And after a while, this gets repeated thousands of times in any xsession error file. select: Bad file descriptor I ended up with xsession-error files close to 1GB and ended up having to link them to /dev/null. On top of that, ICQ also refuses to connect to it's server spitting this error out on stderr: kopete: WARNING: 19:45:16 [WRN] Connection closed Which just serves to confuse me even more. MSN connects fine, as does Kit (KDE AIM client) and GAIM barfs, but it's always been screwy. I submitted this bug to the Kopete developers, they seem to put it down to a glibc problem and ask me to upgrade, but I'm already running the glibc out of the unstable tree :( The Kopete developers proposed fix failed as well, So i figured I was better off posting here. I must say, I do not have this problem, but I use the stable branch of Gentoo. Also, there was a HUGE bug in 0.6.1 which would not open up a chat window when using AIM. After enabling debug mode, I got the error that kopete: KopeteMetaContact::startChat() not implemented! WOW! What a mess up! Anyways, I just made an ebuild for 0.6.1a and will see if this is fixed. If it is, I will post the new ebuild.
This has nothing to do with Gentoo itself though ;o) But 0.6.1 had AIM problems indeed. I made 0.6.1a stable a few hours ago, and that should fix your problems.. Thanks!
