Also, what are the server specs, how many concurrent connections do you plan to support?
The update frequency is now 4 hours. It was 1 day before. The server specification is stated in the main page http://ftp.kaist.ac.kr/ * 2x2-way 1.8GHz x64 processors * 4GB main memory * 2.6TB RAID * Gigabit ethernet And it is also a main Korean mirror for many popular linux/bsd distributions: * ftp.kr.debian.org * kr.archive.ubuntu.com * ftp2.kr.freebsd.org * cvsup2.kr.freebsd.org Since we have 1gbps line and enough hardware power to serve users up to network bandwith, we dont have concurrent user limitation.
Actually looking at the configuration of the server, there _IS_ a limit in httpd and ftpd. Both allow upto 2000 connections concurrently.

We were syncing from rsync://ftp.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp/gentoo. I think the time lag is due to that reason. I've changed the rsync address to ftp.ussg.iu.edu::gentoo-distfiles. It should work fine now. :) please check.
