I emerged tome on my AMD64 based system, and while playing got constant error messages for mostly lua-related issues. I compiled it from the original sources and started to look at the issue. I foun a piece of The documentation that says: OPTION: Define "L64" if a "long" is 64-bits. See "h-types.h". The only such platform that angband is ported to is currently DEC Alpha AXP running OSF/1 (OpenVMS uses 32-bit longs). This is clearly obsolete, since tome has been ported to AMD64 as well :-) The original code below the documentation above is: #if defined(__alpha) && defined(__osf__) # define L64 #endif Commenting out the if and endif clauses fixed the issue for me. This was originally just for tome, but: It just occured to me, that since the bug is in a file descending from the angband, this probably affects other angband derived roguelikes as well. -> Updated the description.
