Description Octavian 2006-12-29 13:27:10 UTC
Hi there,

I have installed the latest mythtv (0.20*) packages. Everything seems to be OK. However I have a very nasty bug. After I record something I cannot see it in the WATCH RECORDING.

See the two snapshots:
http://82.171.183.129/tmp/snapshot1.jpeg
http://82.171.183.129/tmp/snapshot2.jpeg

I am concerned about the snapshot2.jpeg since there are NO ITEMS present. WHY?
Does anyone have the same problem?

I have been Googling the whole day, literally, but I could not find any solution yet.

I have tried:
1. mythcommflag --rebuild
2. rebuilding the mysql database
3. delete the whole mysql database and recreate it
4. re-insatll qt (Initially I had an error when running mythcommflag)
5. run mythfrontend with --verbose all (no clue from here)

Any new ideas? Is this a known bug? How can I nail this down?

Thank you in advance for your answers,
Octavian

Hi there,

Long time no ... nothing.
I have compiled a newer version from mythtv web-page and the bug I was talking was gone. Of course other bugs appeared :-)

Therefore, is there any new Gentoo mythtv release ready to be deployed?

Thank you in advance for your answer,
Octavian

There's new releases every 2 weeks. Use your "emerge --sync"
Comment 3 Octavian 2007-02-23 20:41:52 UTC
Hi,

I am using emerge --sync. Last week I've used it every day. Now I limit myself to one sync per week.
I noticed two updates today: mythvideo and mythmusic
I think the problem is in mythtv.

All the best,
Octavian

You've provided screenshots. No real details or logs. I couldn't even begin to debug this issue for you. All I can tell you is that Group Filter feature I have never touched and don't plan on touching. Me, and the two guys at the office I work with have MythTV boxes setup and using the Gentoo ebuilds and it works without a hitch. Without any more details all I can say is "Works for me"

Hi there,

Don't get upset. Myself, I don't have too much spare time.

Since I haven't got an answer in two months, I thought that you guys are not active anymore. I could of course provide more details... I didn't because mythtv seems very complex; to find the right spot can take same time... which again I kind of lack.

I hoped to trigger you to remember something from the past... but it seems that you never experience this type of error.

Anyway if you feel like you want to follow this up I can provide more details, unless you plan to release a new version in the following month.

Sincerely yours,
Octavian

The only thing I can tell you is that you have not recorded ANYTHING or you enabled some kind of filter that's just the wrong kind of filter for the content you have.

Your best bet is to check you have something recorded with mythweb and then ask in IRC (#mythtv-users) about filters you might have enabled.

So basically if I remove all configurations, mysql database, all myth* packages, then remerge mythtv only, it should work.

I am going to tell you the result.

Best regards,
Octavian

P.S. BTW, I have the solution by using the source from mythtv, however, I just want Gentoo one ;-)

Very silly bug.

I basically have no cable (I have a satellite dish but no DVB-S card yet) so I was using the composite input to record. Recording from the TUNER works just fine. However, not from composite in. It has to do with an empty recording string "". If I press record I get:
Recording ""

I need to do a scan on the composite (weird) to get some Unknown instead of "".

Thank you for your time,
Octavian

Stuff like that happens to me all the time. Glad you got it figured out at least. Enjoy MythTV to it's fullest now. :)
