Description Mauricio Lima Pilla 2003-02-18 11:47:04 UTC
There are two different ebuild for what I think it is the same program:
sys-apps/tpctl and sys-apps/thinkpad. tpctl is more updated (4.2) than thinkpd
(4.1).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
emerge search thinkpad
emerge search tpctl

Actual Results:
Duplicate package in portage.

Expected Results:
There can be only one :-)

Do they actually give the same files?

thinkpad is supposed to be the kernel modules, and tpctl is the userspace tool that interfaces with them.

Check out /var/db/pkg/sys-apps/{thinkpad,tpctl}*/CONTENTS and tell me if they are different. They should be, and they are on my system.

I haven't emerged them, but as you say they have different files in your system. I am reading the descriptions again and they are what you said. Sorry.
