Description lynnevansorenson 2006-12-25 09:38:10 UTC
My ignorance 'emerges' when confronted w/ amd64 alpha mips ppc hppa. Are these specific to some OS? I feel comfortable w/ x86, by chance I know what sparc is, but the rest? Some (link to?) brief expanation would really be welcome. Somebody told me 'ppc' was for Macintosh. True? Then Macs seem to be yr main focus.
Please find a place for some explanation what all those platforms relate to.
Thanks, Lynn

These refer to different CPU types. And, indeed, we say words to this effect all around our documentation.

Not a documentation bug; please read Wikipedia or some other similar resource.

Closing.
