Description FieldySnuts 2006-12-22 08:05:59 UTC
mail-client/mozilla-thunderbird-2.0_beta1 segfaults on me when I open any mail. I can open the program fine, it gets new mail, etc. Selecting any mail in any folder causes a segfault, and the following is on STDOUT:

No running windows found

(Gecko:25027): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "xfce",

(Gecko:25027): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "xfce",

/usr/libexec/mozilla-launcher: line 117: 25027 Segmentation fault      "$mozbin" "$@"
thunderbird-bin exited with non-zero status (139)

I have done a revdep-rebuild and it does not change the situation. I have no idea why it is talking about xfce because while I have it installed, I am not running it.

Stuff around line 117 mentioned above:

115 # Will only wait here if browser was started by this script
116   if [[ -n ${mozpid} ]]; then
117     wait ${mozpid}
118     retval=$?
119     [[ ${retval} == 0 ]] \
120       || echo "${mozbin##*/} exited with non-zero status (${retval})" >&2
121     moz_pis_startstop_scripts stop
122   fi
123
124   exit $retval
125 }

Most interesting of all, I have been running this fine for approximately two weeks. Obviously this is a beta so I don't expect much help (hence I set priority to P5), but if someone out there knows how to repair this, I would be a happy gentoo user :)

Have a nice day.

Well... here's an update. I don't even know what I changed, but after several days of the above behavior, it now seems to work fine. Call me confused. Appologies for the noise, I'll just reopen if I run into it again. Heck, maybe somebody else will run into it, anyway.

Happy Holidays!
Comment 2 FieldySnuts 2006-12-28 07:45:21 UTC
I am so very confused. Because after a reboot, this is all happening again. Exactly the same as it was before. I really wish I could provide better info, but I'm re-opening this... Grr.
Comment 3 Jory A. Pratt 2006-12-28 08:45:15 UTC
you need to get a proper bt using /usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/thunderbird-bin without bug is useless as I can not reproduce it. Also try compiling thunderbird with CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium-m -pipe"
Comment 4 FieldySnuts 2006-12-28 09:04:06 UTC
Okay, thanks for the reply. I could probably find a little guide on getting debugging enabled and not stripping stuff and all of that if i looked, however, do you know of a URL? I have done this in the past, i would simply need reminding I suppose. I'd be happy to provide what you ask for, and I'll try it also with those CFLAGS when I do get to it.

backtrace #1

First attempt, hope this is what was wanted. USE="crypt debug" FEATURES="-nostrip" CFLAGS="-g -O2 -march=pentium-m -pipe" emerge mozilla-thunderbird . Please add comments if i need to do anything further, have made mistakes, etc. Cheers.
Comment 6 FieldySnuts 2007-01-10 15:56:38 UTC
Any word? Did i get the bt right, or no?
Comment 7 FieldySnuts 2007-02-09 17:47:35 UTC
I am seeing the same issues with beta2. Did i post useful information earlier using beta1 and debugging?

Did you try with a clean profile? And what about the bin version available at mozilla.org?

Reopen with the needed info...
