I've done this: # ln -s /usr/share/games/enigma /usr/share/
The linking solved the problem for me as well. I guess that the compat.lua that comes with Enigma isn't found in PATH or something similar.
Try running it under strace: strace -o out enigma and attach the out file as text/plain. reopen with that.

It's that sed in the ebuild.
As a work around until it's fixed, you can emerge with USE=-nls Sucks if you want other langs, but it'll get it running for you in the meantime.
