Description Simon Matthews 2006-12-19 11:19:22 UTC
I see miltiple lines similar to the following at about 1-2 minute intervals in my logs:

Dec 19 11:15:55 newhome kernel: gam_server[3357]: segfault at 0000000000000038 rip 00000000004095bd rsp 00007fff81fdd3c0 error 4

This is a new system, just installed from a stage3 tarball. I have re-emerged gamin.

Which gamin version?
Comment 2 Simon Matthews 2006-12-20 10:22:29 UTC
 app-admin/gamin-0.1.7
Comment 3 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-20 10:41:39 UTC
Reproducible with 0.1.8?
Comment 4 Simon Matthews 2006-12-20 11:45:49 UTC
Yep. Just emerged 0.1.8 and the same is happening.
Comment 5 Simon Matthews 2006-12-20 14:05:26 UTC
After re-building my kernel and re-booting, it now seems to be OK. The only changes I made to the kernel were related to ALSA, so I don't understand waht was going on. I also noticed before re-booting that gnome-panel was taking between 30-60% of my cpu time (Athlon64 3000+)
