As in summary. A sed -e 's/NEW_NOCO_VERSION="0.13a"/NEW_NOCO_VERSION="0.13b"/' pcmcia-cs-3.2.3-r1.ebuild is enough, well, or at least works fine here
Pleas upgrade this bug to *critical* due to personal experiences I have had with the current version that is on the 1.4_rc2 disc. I was unable to find which version of orinoco_pci is on the 1.4_rc2 disc (modinfo gave no version #), but I assume it is 0.12 due to the error I'm receiving: eth1: Error -110 writing Tx descriptor to BAP [repeated uncountably on all terminals for minimum 20 minutes] Googling on the error message revealed that the error message is linked to version 0.12 when the device is under heavy load. And we all know installing Gentoo is generally network-load-heavy. The issue is apparently resolved in 0.13b. Please be sure to include 0.13b in the next liveCD. Also, it would be nice to know where I can find a compiled 0.13b driver that will work on the 1.4_rc2 disc.
i put this latest driver (along w/ the shmoo monitor mode patch for it) into pcmcia-cs-3.2.3-r2.ebuild a few days ago. For now, that one is available. i'll probably make a new revision of 3.2.1 up this afternoon that uses this driver.
0.13b is in 3.2.3-r2 which is stable, so I guess this can be closed.
