I would like something like:
genkernel --classe desktop all

genkernel could provide classes like:
- install CD
- desktop
- laptop
- server

It's too much to change and I'm currently the only genkernel maintainer.  There is a genkernel 4 code branch in development that works on a "profile" that would probably do what you're thinking, but in general, the kernels are setup to be as generic as possible and work on as much hardware as possible, and I have no intentions on changing that.
