During installation with the GTK installer on a Celeron 1.8 with a Radeon 9200 and 256Mb of PC2100 ram the installer freezes and shows only the window title and then it is white within the window frame. There is no hdd light or cd light to indicate that the install is still running and the system monitor shows the process as sleeping. This occurs every time it reaches the portage sync. This does not occur on the other machine in my home. Possibly it is using all the resources and freezing minimum requirements for the GTK installer perhaps need to be instituted
What version of the livecd are you using? The issue I think you are having should have been fixed a few releases ago.

It seems that the video was frozen but the install continued. I left the installer alone all day and when I came back to the computer the installation was complete.
