You unmerged e2fsprogs, or what's exactly the problem here? If the above, then don't do it:

# emerge -Cav e2fsprogs

>>> These are the packages that would be unmerged:

!!! 'sys-fs/e2fsprogs' is part of your system profile.
!!! Unmerging it may be damaging to your system.
Comment 3 Fernando (likewhoa) 2006-12-13 02:20:30 UTC
no this on a brand new running system "livecd" without e2fsprogs emerged.. hence why it should be a DEP on this package because of uuid being part of e2fsprogs.
Comment 4 Fernando (likewhoa) 2006-12-13 02:26:10 UTC
qfile uuid
sys-fs/e2fsprogs (/usr/include/uuid)

Already told you that sys-fs/e2fsprogs is part of system (i.e., installed everywhere). So, how can we reproduce this bug?
Comment 6 Fernando (likewhoa) 2006-12-13 02:31:23 UTC
well must be because i don't use bootstrap.sh to build my toolchain.
Comment 7 Fernando (likewhoa) 2006-12-13 02:35:01 UTC
I guess this bug can be labeled invalid because of the way i did my setup,..

    1. stage 1 tarball
    2. emerge binutils glibc libstdc++-v3 gcc
    3. emerge cryptsetup-luks
    4. bug reproduce.

Comment 8 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-13 02:36:58 UTC
Well, that's completely broken way to build system from stage1.

Closing, stage1 is unsupported and if you insist on doing it, do it properly (bootstrap, emerge --emptytree system).

works for me as this was the only minor issue which was resolved with a simply emerge of e2fsprogs.

thanks anyways.
