do you have hald running ? try with banshee 0.11.5.
banshee-0.11.3 was working perfectly on my setup, until I decided to reemerge with the daap and encode flags on. for any reason you are missing dbus-launch or something ? on 0.11.7 it automatic starts dbus-launch when run to avoid this issues.
Fixed in later versions on Banshee.
