Description Honza Macháček 2006-12-11 07:41:16 UTC
setxkbmap cz -variant qwerty fails, only unmodified czech keyboard works.
It's a small problem in includes within /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/pc/cz. Reported and solved in the upstream bugzilla https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7778 but rejected since the package is no longer maintained upstream.

The ebuild can easily include a corrective patch.

x11-misc/xkbdata/files/xkbdata-1.0.1-cz.patch

Patch correcting the czech keyboard description to handle variants (like qwerty and bksl).

The bug should be fixed by the attached patch.

Don't resolve unfixed bugs.

Copy-paste of my comment from the other bug:

This package is going away once we have the time, so it won't be fixed. I'm assuming the issue does not exist in xkeyboard-config?

Well, I've filed this bug to make my patch publicly available. I think the patch fixes the bug -- so I don't think it's unfixed.
  Am I wrong?

I do apologize for filing this bug three times.
Bugzilla was rather unresponsive and I lost my nerves; then both the submissions I had thought had been aborted turned up to be actually accepted.

This issue is not there. There is other -- Bug 157837
I've been able to fix this one.

Alright. I'll close this as WONTFIX then, and we'll work on that other issue.

Nice. And how is the fact that it works in another package resolve it for this one?

I installed xorg-x11 7.2 and I still did not get working keyboard layout files until I manually replaced xkbdata with xkeyboard-config.

So it is broken going to be broken until xkbdata is removed/masked or something.
