The german and englisch handbook says nothing about dns_servers_eth*. In 3c/23 the nameserver information is written to resolv.conf. In 6a/03 the resolv.conf is copyied to chroot, but in 8b/09 is no note about dns_servers_eth*. After reboot resolv.conf would be overwritten by net. So without dns_servers_eth* inside /etc/conf.d/net the resolv.conf is empty after reboot.
(In reply to comment #0) > The german and englisch handbook says nothing about dns_servers_eth*. Nor is it supposed to. We have warning after warning on the networking pages that if you're messing about with advanced things like home DNS servers, then you are supposed to read /etc/conf.d/net.example. We will not be duplicating the information in that file here in the handbooks; its examples are too complex, numerous, and specific to include in the handbook. Did you not see the green note below the DNS example? "Note: For more information on configuring DNS and NIS, please read the examples provided in /etc/conf.d/net.example. Also, you may want to emerge resolvconf-gentoo to help manage your DNS/NIS setup." Not a bug, closing.
