Description Zhen Lin 2003-02-15 04:48:01 UTC
/var/bind is a valid configuration directory, so why is it not in
CONFIG_PROTECT? This can become annoying when emerge bind replaces some zone files.

just needs an env.d file to be created by the ebuild
Comment 2 Donny Davies (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-03-03 13:18:00 UTC
then why didnt you add it instead of re-assigning it?

Have fun, SpanKer.

i dont use bind, in fact, i dont even know what it is (well i do, i just dont like it)

any bind people ? ;)
Comment 4 Zhen Lin 2003-03-04 04:49:21 UTC
/var/bind keeps the IP addresses and domain names of the root DNS servers (A.ROOT-SERVERS.NET - M.ROOT-SERVERS.NET), as well as your DNS zone files (1.168.192.in-addr.arpa, gentoo.org etc.) emerge bind replaces the root DNS servers files and the default zones (127.in-addr.arpa, localhost).

Well since a lot of kernel stuff is off my head for a while let me take a look at this :) I'll pop that in while I'm upgrading to 9.2.2 final. Thanks.
