If you want to use television on DSL with the french Internet provider "Free", you have to emerge vlc with 'live' and 'rtsp' additionnal flags. I mean they could be added to the desktop profile. Thus the user using the desktop profile will just type the magic words "emerge vlc" in order to get television for later long emerges ;)
Sorry, we are not going to bloat profiles with additional flags that are used in exactly _one_ package and are definitely not essential for its working.
If you want to get television, it is a important feature. You can't watch television on ADSL if vlc is not built with live and rtsp flags. Thus vlc doesn't work.
