The error occured the first time while processing the "emerge --update --deep --newuse world" after a new rsync.

Now I cannot continue but I desperate need to have a new compiled version.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 142601 ***
Comment 2 Stefan 2006-12-04 12:59:27 UTC
I looked at bug 142601. I deleted the file and upgrated as suggested from Jabub Moc and I cleared the cache as suggested from vicaya (My cache is empty anyway). I still have the same problem.
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-04 13:09:11 UTC
And it still works for me; not reproducible at all and never was, sorry. Your pear install is messed up.

Comment 4 Stefan 2006-12-04 13:31:10 UTC
Sorry, your comment does not really help me. The solution "WORKEFORME" is really nice. It might work for u but not for me.

Could you please explain what pkg_postinst means for this step I couldn't have done yet.

What means "pear install is messed up"? How can I make it unmessed??

You might have seen the notice: "tar: Ein einzelner Nullblock bei 1436" = "tar: a single zero block at 1436". In bug 142601 it is not written during the installation process.

So, both bugs are not the same.
Comment 5 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-04 13:41:38 UTC
Sorry, noone of PHP team was ever able to reproduce the problem. We cannot fix something that's not reproducible. If you need support, drop in #gentoo-php; until you can tell us how to reproduce the bug, nothing we could do here.

Comment 6 Stefan 2006-12-04 13:52:28 UTC
1.) what means pkg_postinst ?
2.) how do I drop it there?
Comment 7 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-04 14:18:12 UTC
Please, stop reopening this bug until you have given us exact instructions how to reproduce it, because simply we can't... (And no, emerge PEAR-DB doesn't count).

> 2.) how do I drop it there?

Hum? #gentoo-php is an IRC channel on freenode.
Comment 8 Stefan 2006-12-04 14:33:07 UTC
Please, provide me any help !!!!

Which instruction else do you need ?

I am just doing a "emerge --update --deep --newuse world"!! I even don't know what PEAR-DB is. How should I know YOUR dependencies ???? YOU have create gentoo, not I. So, YOU must give me instuctions, not I.

Instead, YOU give me the task to give you instructions ?????

What kind of support is that ????

The only thing you did is: set the dublicate flag and saying "I cannot help", "your PEAR is messed up!, leaving unanswered questions like:

1.) what means pkg_postinst ?
2.) what about the tar error ?????

This is not a help for solutions.

I expect a clear answer to the questions now.
Comment 9 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-04 14:39:28 UTC
1.) what means pkg_postinst ?

http://devmanual.gentoo.org, man ebuild(5)

2.) what about the tar error ?????

There's no tar error in the output.

For the rest: I've already told a couple of times that this is not a support forum. If you cannot provide us with exact steps to reproduce the issue, we can't solve this bug. For support question, use forums.gentoo.org or #gentoo-php on freenode.

Stop shouting and stop reopening this bug without providing any useful information.

Comment 10 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-04 14:40:10 UTC
Closed, this is not an unpaid technical support.

Comment 12 Stefan 2006-12-04 15:00:16 UTC
1.) what means pkg_postinst ?
http://devmanual.gentoo.org, man ebuild(5)

Thanks for the answer.

2.) what about the tar error ?????
There's no tar error in the output.

There is a tar error:
----8<----
>>> Unpacking DB-1.7.6.tgz to /var/tmp/portage/PEAR-DB-1.7.6-r1/work
tar: Ein einzelner Nullblock bei 1436
>>> Source unpacked.
----8<----

The translation is: "one single zero block at 1436"

You have never told me that you are not a support forum. If yes, where? which comment?

I'm not shouting at all.

The only information I can provide is a "emerge --pretend --update --deep --newuse world". I added it as attachment. Hope it helps.
Comment 13 Stefan 2006-12-04 15:23:30 UTC
Ok, close it.

Really thanks for the unwilling and useless help. Just saying untrue statements and simply closing bugs makes your work easy !!!

You can even drop me from your list. I cannot expect help here anyway. So, at least I have given you a hard time

Ah, don't forget to close the bug ;) That's what you like, isn't it?

It's not an error, go Google for it. And it's completely irrelevant here.

Maybe re-read previous comments? So, for the last time - forums.gentoo.org or #gentoo-php.

Now, as you apparently can't live with WORKSFORME resolution, I'm going to mark this CANTFIX (sorry, but there's no WEHAVENOIDEAWHYITDOESNOTWORKFORYOU resolution available). If none of the suggestions on duplicate bugs (142601, 131086 and others) works for you, then sorry, get a binpkg from someone for whom it works.
