I want to notice that kdenlive-0.4 is out.
This is the todays original message from the maintainer:

Hi everyone.

I finaly made it!
Kdenlive 0.4 is officially released, all infos on kdenlive.sf.net

If someone wants to prepare packages, that would of course be great. a 
recent cvs version of MLT is required to enable the new effects (speed & 
freeze).

just rename ebuild from portage 
and emerge it

May be its also possible to create updated cvs-snashot-packages for mlt and mlt++ to get all features enabled in kdenlive?

Indeed, it does activate the new features. 
Note : Inserting a still image didn't work for me anymore (regression from kdenlive 0.4 with mlt 2.2).

After a quick debug I noticed that the thing crashed inside the GDK-Pixbuf.
I read that the gtk (weird) dependency was not necessary anymore for building kdenlive 0.4 so I tried those use flags :

media-libs/mlt dv xml sdl vorbis sox -quicktime lame xine lame ogg -theora -gtk xine
media-video/kdenlive -quicktime

And the still images are back !

Thanks for the ebuilds, Guillaume! Although I had to rename kdenlive-0.4.0.ebuild to kdenlive-0.4.ebuild (because the source file is called kdenlive-0.4.tar.gz).

thank you I bumped kdenlive, will take a look at mlt now.
