mod_fcgid 2.0 has been released on Oct 29th 2006, introducing some improvements and bugfixes over version 1.10.
Only the SRC_URI in the old ebuild had to be changed.

Just found this bug.
FWIW, I upgraded to mod_fcgid-2.0 a while ago and it works nicely on my x86 & amd64 boxes. Haven't tried on sparc/ppc/hppa/mips yet.
