Whenever I load a web page with a Java applet in FireFox the browser crashes. The following is the terminal output: james@hp-dv6105us ~ $ firefox Warning: Cannot convert string "-b&h-lucida-medium-r-normal-sans-*-140-*-*-p-*-iso8859-1" to type FontStruct /usr/libexec/mozilla-launcher: line 117: 17473 Segmentation fault "$mozbin" "$@" firefox-bin exited with non-zero status (139) I have tried installing all of the font packages in portage, plus I have Win* fonts installed. This crash happens whenever I try to open a web page that uses Java in Firefox, It happens regardless of the user. That's helpful. Maybe I shouldn't have posted this to the Gentoo bug list. My rationale was that my entire system (except gnome-applets) is installed through Portage. I'll try to install the blackdown-jre from either source (if available), or from a binary package from Blackdown's site. I'll resubmit the bug to them if it still happens with the non-portage installation. I apologise if I posted this to the wrong place.
We appreciate you taking the time to file this bug, however this problem relates to a binary package (blackdown-jre) which we are, unfortunately, unable to fix. You might try taking this bug upstream to the blackdown people, though. Resolving CANTFIX.

is it possible to make firefox use the SUN JDK on 64bit? I do have the SUN JDK installed, but it does not show up for a 64bit nsplugin option in eselect...
