After host server kernel upgrade I can't start vmware server. "/etc/init.d/vmware start" works fine without any errors, kernel and network modules started and loaded normally but vmware-serverd not loaded! If I try to start it manually: /opt/vmware/server/sbin/vmware-serverd it displays the following message: /opt/vmware/server/sbin/vmware-serverd: symbol lookup error: /opt/vmware/server/lib/lib/libssl.so.0.9.7/libssl.so.0.9.7: undefined symbol: EVP_idea_cbc VMware packages (from equery): [I--] [ ~] app-emulation/vmware-modules-1.0.0.15-r1 (0) [I--] [ ~] app-emulation/vmware-server-1.0.1.29996-r4 (0) Of, course, I recompiled (few times!) and reconfigured vmware-modules and vmware-server. BTW: It was overlay version of the vmware server before but I remove it from overlay now in order to solve the problem - without any success! After removing from overlay I cleaned system from vmware: emerge -C vmware-{modules,server}, removed all files/directories left, rebuild (emerge -e system) and check (revdep-rebuild) it. Nothing help! I installed vmware-server for the first time yesterday (emerge --sync right before), then updated to new kernel and vmware stopped working even after reemerging it (as well as vmware-modules). Also it doesn't say anything about kernel (and that was the only part updated).
Anyway just found the bug. It is in /usr/portage/eclass/vmware.eclass line 165: Change: /vmware-libcrypto.so.0.9.7l.tar.bz2) to vmware-libcrypto.so.0.9.7l.tar.bz2)

Umm... have some freakin' patience. We can't fix it if we don't know it's broken. A bug that's not filed to the right place is the same as no bug, at all. That being said, thank you to Arvid! This is now FIXED.
