Hi. I am interested to run distfiles-only mirror (and for that matter rsync mirror too) for offical public use. I have already followed your guidelines and setted up a mirror that's ready to update it contents (distfiles, snapshots) every 4 hour starting from local midnight. They are already served public via ftp.public.fix.fi (ftp, http). Rsync mirror is currently used mostly as "community" mirror at rsync.public.fix.fi. It is updating once a day, but hoping to become more tightly updateing offical rsync mirror. Both mirrors are hosted at Helsinki, Finland. They are located in very high-end commercial server space and machine behind mirrors is double 3.0 GHz Xeon with 2 gigabytes of RAM and enough allocated diskspace to run mirrors. Connection is provided by the company behind server space and it offers 100 Mbps of bandwidth all the time, more when needed. Contact: peltzi@fix.fi Current FTP: ftp.public.fix.fi Current HTTP: ftp.public.fix.fi Current rsync: rsync.public.fix.fi Willing to apply for: rsync-mirror, distfiles-only source mirror
Spoke to Toni in #-mirrors, he is setup as rsync2.fi.gentoo.org. -jforman
