This morning I updagted kde and gnome to 3.1r2 and 2.2 respectivly. 
When launching kmail from gnome ( I use kmail as my mail client and this always
works in the past ) the following errors are diplayed. 

Could not find mime type 
applictatin octet/stream 
followed by the error , no mime types installed 
followed by the error could no start proccess for imaps.

this might have something to do with bug #15593, please look if your env.d files are correct.

What is the status of this bug. Does it allready work, or is it a wontfix?

It's been 3 weeks since Paul asked the status. Closing as a WONTFIX.

The same happens in kde 3.3.0.
