Comment 3 Keef Aragon 2006-12-20 21:36:48 UTC
This is because the example code is not compatible with newer versions of glibmm. It's example code anyway, so you're good to comment out the 4 offending lines, and proceed with ebuild compile/install/qmerge/clean.
Comment 4 Benjamin Southall 2007-04-08 07:54:24 UTC
I can clarify this bug .

Comment 5 Robert Bradbury 2007-04-11 19:34:37 UTC
General comments on other comments:

I found on my system to get libgnomeuimm to compile required
Adding to /etc/portage/package.use:
  dev-cpp/gtkmm accessibility
Then emerging gtkmm, then libgnomeuimm.

If you upgrade gtkmm without accessibility you appear to lose the most recent version of libatkmm (/usr/lib/libatkmm-1.6.*) (which I assume is the accessibility toolkit). Libgnomeuimm seems to require the accessibility toolkit. So I had to drop back to gtkmm-2.8.3 with the accessibility flag added, then build libgnomeuimm, then upgrade back to gtkmm-2.10.8. One may be able to avoid this if one has the accessibility USE flag in place when one upgrades to gtkmm-2.10.8.

I think the real problem may be that libgnomeuimm may not be setup to build without the accessibility toolkit library (or its libtools script isn't clear what is going on when had but then "lost" libatk (due to building gtkmm without the accessibility USE flag)).

Comment 6 Wendall Cada 2007-07-05 21:44:01 UTC
I can confirm that this is a bug related to building dev-cpp/gtkmm without accessibility use flag enabled. All compiles of libgnomeuimm with libtool: link: cannot find the library `/usr/lib/libatkmm-1.6.la'

Comment 7 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-08 18:53:48 UTC
Okay, I've looked into this, and nothing in libgnomeuimm actuall depends on atkmm. The problem is that you had gtkmm built with accessability, so atkmm was built, and almost all the rest of the mm libs (libglademm, libgnomecanvasmm, libgnomemm, and so on) have link-time deps on atkmm. If you remove accessability from gtkmm, you will need to run a full revdep-rebuild to get rid of the atkmm dep. Or, you can just put the accesssability flag back.
Comment 8 Stian Skjelstad 2007-12-05 10:55:44 UTC
Version 2.16.0 is no longer in portage. Is this still an issue with 2.18.0 ?
Comment 9 Wendall Cada 2007-12-05 18:19:41 UTC
I no longer see this issue with 2.18.0, I think this can safely be marked resolved.
Comment 10 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-12-05 18:44:13 UTC
Closing, then.
