Description Christophe PEREZ 2006-11-12 20:53:17 UTC
Today, I could see mysql crashed, and java process took all my processor ressources.
I stopped tomcat, and could see /var/log/tomcat5/catalina.out up to 1.3Gb, and full of lines like :
12 nov. 2006 XX:XX:XX org.enhydra.jdbc.util.Logger error/d
GRAVE: GenericPool:cleanUp Error Exception in GenericPool:cleanUp/d

I don't really know where is the problem, but I wanted to announce it.
I only use tomcat for OpenSI (http://www.opensi.org/) app.

I will be looking to stabilize Tomcat 5.5.20 when I get a chance. Not to mention working on package Tomcat 6.0 which will be out soon. Tomcat 5.0.x is over 1.5 years old. I have no plans to stabilize or work on any 5.0.x ebuilds at this time. I know 5.0.27 is fraught with problems, and would like to have it removed entirely. But it's marked stable (even though I don't consider it to be), and there is no stable replacement if it's removed in tree.

I will see about stabilizing 5.5.20 asap, but I have to stabilize it's dependencies first. In the mean time I suggest keywording tomcat 5.5.20 and any of it's deps ~arch so you can emerge and use the newer supported stuff. If you have problems there those will be resolved. If need be you can use 5.0.28, it's in much better shape than 5.0.27. But it's also not keyworded stable, nor do I have plans to stabilize that version. You can use either 5.0.28 or 5.5.20, up to you. 5.5.20 is more likely to be supported. Not sure I will resolve any 5.0.28 issues.

Because of the above, I am going to mark this bug, closed won't fix.

I can understand all of that.
Thank you for all your explanations.
