It is linked from http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/?catid=sysadmin
There it says:
Gentoo Java Guide for stable systems: This guide will introduce users and developers to Java and explain how to use Java with stable version of Gentoo Linux.

But gen 2 (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/java.xml) has been marked stable some weeks ago. This means that we should adjust these documents accordingly.

Done. Punted java-old.xml from the documentation tree and from metadoc. Out with the old, in with the new. :)
