Masked for removal in 30 days. Upstream has not released a new version since 2001 and it uses gtk+-1
I have no problem (re-)installing it nor running it. The last update in Portage was c 061109. It is never a reason to remove a package that upstream hasn't upgraded it recently: maybe it needs no improvement. If you want to remove this package from the tree, please provide a better justification.
The justification is easy: - it does not compile (open bug, no one cares to fix) - upstream has not released since 2001, so likely it does not care either - the package uses the obsolete libs gtk+-1 and freetype-1 But this bug is plain invalid because it works for you and -lesd is not used in gfontview. Thanks
In your justification, points 2 & 3 are correct, but inadequate on their own; point 1 is, as you now agree, incorrect: it does compile & run here & the OP had done something wrong in his own system to cause the problem. I agree Gfontview is not the most upto-date package in the tree, but it does do its job on my machine at least. Anyway, thanks for restoring it: I could live without it, but it's useful. And as always, thanks to you & the other devs for their unpaid work. PS Dillo also relies on Gtk+-1 & Dillo is a very useful little browser, so we can't escape Gtk+-1 yet (smile).
