Failed to reproduce it. The FIND variable is set through cfg/Makefile.cfg which initially is set to /bin/find, but ./configure script resets it to /usr/bin/find. What does it says your cfg/autoconf/config.log about FIND?

Easy... You have some inconsistencies between autoconf-wrapper and autoconf. You should be able to fix it with emerge -u --oneshot autoconf autoconf-wrapper Generally speaking, if you update your machine so rarely, you should update your system before update the world.
(In reply to comment #7) > Generally speaking, if you update your machine so rarely, you should update > your system before update the world. I am upgrading from gcc 3.3.6 to gcc 4.1.1 according to the upgrading guide. My last step before `emerge --emptytree world' was `emerge --emptytree system' as prescribed there. So I suppose my system is in a fully updated condition. Otherwise true, I did not upgrade the system until the first package came which required gcc 4. > emerge -u --oneshot autoconf autoconf-wrapper Anyway, when the `emerge --resume --skipfirst' finishes its 722 packeges I will try your suggestion. Thank you for your efforts.
OK. Closed as INVALID since it is related to autoconf & autoconf-wrapper.
