Beryl 0.1.2 was just released (Yesterday, Nov. 7). See the website for details. I'll try a filename bump on my amd64 machine the next chance I get.
oh, source tarballs, etc are held here: http://releases.beryl-project.org/0.1.2/
Created attachment 101693 [details] Updated ebuild Updated ebuilds for version 0.1.2 Note: beryl-core points on a repackaged version (upstream contains partial compiled mesa left over resulting in "white windows" issue on Xgl...)
0.1.2 isn't showing in the tree yet and it's not showing on packages.gentoo.org
Guys, we know 0.1.2 is released, we know it's not in portage. There are some complications, so we'll get it done as soon as possible.
for info, the issues I had when updating the ebuilds was: a) missing VERSION files (all packages) - fixed by recreating it via a echo command in the ebuild (not clean but I didn't want to repack correctly all the upstream package) -> this fix autotool issues b) a already compiled libGL.a in beryl-core that broke beryl-xgl==> the repack I made is simly a "make clean" + remove CVS && "make dist" For the rest, it runs smooth on my Xgl :)
In the future attach the ebuilds raw instead of as a tar =/ makes looking at them harder. There are a few complications with the packages as was stated, and one that you pointed out that they don't brand it themselves (why I will never know..but its their first packaging which I hope gets better)... having .svn in the release tar's isn't the best first step =/
I know I should put them by pieces but honestly I was too lazy to do so (too many packages ;-) ) For the packaging issue, I have some guess: they didn't add this VERSION file in their makefile.am and used "make dist" to create the tarball. For the versioned tarball: I guess they never did a "svn help export" :) Btw, I posted the remark on their forum (their TRAC thinks my bug was a spam...) but it's still a dead letter... So if someone has some better contact with upstream, will be nice to "resubmit" this issue :)
FYI: for the sake of easy packaging I open a ticket upstream : http://bugs.beryl-project.org/ticket/896
*** Bug 154874 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
FYI: Upstream will add the VERSION in next release @tsunam: Found your blog entry about beryl-core... The fsck up is the half backed mesa, a make clean before build should fixes the prob even on x86 (at least, the cleaned package I use in my ebuild on x86 it worked (and with got this error before) I will now upload all the ebuilds in raw if some peoples want to give a shoot ;)

Pierre thank you for helping to track it down, the make clean did in fact work for me. I will test the changes tonight and hopefully get them into the tree tonight. Thank you once again for your assistance.
You're are welcome Let's hope next release will be more "emerge" friendly :p

Ok, I think I uploaded all the "fixed" dep. ebuild (I hope ;-) ... Too many ebuild and not multiple uploads...)
thank you for the help pierre once again, it should be in the tree in a few hours. A few things to consider, beryl currently only likes to work with the same tree version as everything else. Weird errors are seen mixing emerald-0.1.1 with beryl-core-0.1.2 for example so setting =package-0.1.2 will help avoid some of those issues. I've not done the version fix currently as I don't see it actually having any particular effect on anything, and 0.1.3 will be coming out fairly soon which as was stated will have version in it. Course if it does have a use that I've missed in teh code I'm willing to be told I'm wrong :)
I didn't try to mix different package version but for sure this won't hurt. For the VERSION issue, it was hitting me with eautoreconf (and fails with funky errors), but it shouldn't be big issue if you don't regen the configure :-) So this can wait until 0.1.3 (since I don't like the echo either...)
