Description CDigger 2006-11-06 03:20:45 UTC
When i start browsing MS Windows shared folders with the Nautilus in GNOME-2.16 gnome-vfs-deamon causes segfault.

In /var/log/messages it looks like:
gnome-vfs-daemo[8262]: segfault at 0000000000000000 rip 00002b9d896304c6 rsp 00000000418429d0 error 4

It occurs when sys-apps/dbus-0.61 is installed and running.

Solution is install ~amd64 keyworded sys-apps/dbus-0.62-r1.
But gnome-vfs-2.16.1 doesn't have dependancy like >=sys-apps/dbus-0.62.

Wouldn't surprise me if Gnome needs D-Bus 0.62. It looks like it's getting a callback of NULL to cause the crash. Possibly something not fully implemented or the behavior has been modified since the release of 0.61.

no gnome-vfs-2.16 doesn't need dbus 0.62 it requires at least 0.60. This was a bug that is fixed on gnome-vfs-2.16.2 according to the changelog.

* Don't crash if there is no session dbus

That means that probably your dbus wasn't working fine.

Please reopen if isn't still working for you after the update to 2.16.2.
