User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061105 Firefox/2.0 Build Identifier: Just installed GNOME yesterday and have tried to build epiphany-2.14 three times; each time it fails at the same place with the same error, after attempting to build a sidebar against firefox. I've attached the output of the last build message and error. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Unmask ~x86 for www-client/mozilla-firefox 2. emerge www-client/mozilla-firefox-2.0 3. emerge www-client/epiphany Actual Results: Build output until the attached error. Expected Results: I'm not a programmer; I'd say that it (epiphany) should maybe check if you have firefox 2.0 installed and then warn you that it's incompatible, or the build of epiphany should be fixed to work against firefox 2.0. AFAIK, epiphany-2.16 is the first version to support firefox-2 so this is not a bug.
Alright, this would definitely be a problem with my knowledge, and I apologize for wasting QA time if this is indeed the case. I'm going to test 2.16 right now.
Alright. 2.16.1 compiled, so this won't be a problem once that goes stable. This can be WONTFIX'd or INVALID'd as you see fit.
Might want to have epiphany-2.14 dep on mozilla-firefox-1.* or something then, imho. Matching the ebuild visibilities is always good, of course.
I'd tend to agree, at least to stop bugs like this from cropping up, and for people who want to stay with lower versions of epiphany (if there is any reason to) or firefox.
Hmm... 2.16.0 had that dep at one point, but it got removed ff-2.0 worked. I've fixed the deps for 2.14.x
