============

On inserting a DVD, the DVD is detected and the title is shown then the message from:

		case MSG_RETRIEVAL_FAILED:
			s = _("Failed to retrieve DVD title details for some reason.\n"
			      "Maybe you do not have libdvdcss2 installed?");
(th-title-selector.c line 948)

However libdvdcss is installed and strace -f -e=file does show /usr/lib/libdvdcss.so.2 being opened sucessfully.

I've done a emerge -ep thoggen and manually re-emerged any packages with "N" or "U" (a feature of this version of portage --excellent--).

I'm unfamiliar with gstreamer so can't figure it out.

in the work directory, the test-title-preview executable is there and it works!
A preview is displayed, obviously de-css does function!
Yes I have tried other DVDs, all show the same problem.

./test-title-preview
Device: (null)
thoggen-INFO: preview window realized

I forgot to add, this is what happens on the command line.

And very important! Shaun of the Dead is hilarious! Very much recommend it.

Comment 2 John Huttley 2006-11-14 14:04:05 UTC
I have been doing something unrelated and ran emerge -D world.
I was shocked to see 20 ebuilds wanting upgrades.
After that I tried thoggen on general principles and the error has gone.
