Description Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-11-02 09:13:25 UTC
As per summary, this bug is about removing the references to XMMS as it's going to be removed from the tree at the end of November.
The involved documents are:

- http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml : references XMMS as the (only?) way to play Audio CDs with NewWorld machines. I think there are now more than one player that supports digital output of CDDA data... just point to something else please.

- http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/bluetooth-guide.xml : references xmms-btexmms. Not sure if there's an audacious equivalent, but that package is going together with the rest of XMMS.

- http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/shoutcast-config.xml : basically references XMMS as only music player.. just change the references to Audacious for instance, but I suppose that at least in the association you can change it to "audio player" in general.

- http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml : simply lists xmms as package, maybe worth removing it and maybe not.
- http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoolkit.xml : names xmms as package in an example, as above, maybe it's worth to fix maybe not.

Thanks,
Diego

All fixed in CVS. Found a few other XMMS references and fixed them, too. There should only be a few references left from the 2004.2 handbook (won't be fixed), from a drobbins article (won't be fixed), and from hb-working-use (won't be fixed, because it's the default USE from the 2004.3 profile used in the example).

Thanks for reporting.

So long, XMMS! Miss you....
