Description Ernst Rohlicek 2006-11-02 06:24:11 UTC
Hello,

Since beagle-0.2.9, it does not compile anymore. I did not use it for a while, but every version since 0.2.9 complains about a class name clash. On the beagle open bugs list I could not find a mention about this, so I assume it's a Gentoo-specific issue.

The compilation output is as follows:

[...]
./LuceneQueryingDriver.cs(126,4): error CS0104: `Stopwatch' is an ambiguous reference between `System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch' and `Beagle.Util.Stopwatch'
./LuceneQueryingDriver.cs(482,4): error CS0246: The type or namespace name `Stopwatch' could not be found. Are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?

!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.

Is any Gentoo patch touching this or do we compile with any special options?

If it's not an ebuild problem, then I guess, the solution is as simple as prefixing the references to the Stopwatch class with the according namespaces - I could write a patch for that.

provide mono version and emerge --info please

Alright, mono version is as follows:

emerge --info follows:

Please post output of:

monop System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch
Comment 4 Luis Medinas (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-11-13 08:58:19 UTC
ok i know that's wrong.
The thing is beagle has a Stopwatch class itself and your compiler is using gmcs (.net 2.0) that has the Stopwatch class too. So there's a namespace conflict. Thanks to Joe Shaw for explaining me this.

So please do what daniel asked and this too monop2 System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch.

Your problem now is that your makefiles are detecting gmcs (.net 2.0) instead of mcs (.net 1.0). That can be an issue of your hax0r CFLAGS and LDFLAGS :).
Comment 5 Luis Medinas (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-04 03:12:57 UTC
this isn't a bug on beagle, you need to see if you mono is installed right and it's using mcs instead of gmcs.
Thanks
