net-misc/asterisk-sounds-es ebuild

Didn't think it was necessary to open a new bug for this... attaching ebuild for Spanish Asterisk sounds (Spain).

(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug)
'EBUILD' is in the KEYWORDS which should mean that there is a ebuild attached
to this bug.
This bug is assigned to maintainer-wanted which means that it is not in the
main tree.
Heuristics show that no Gentoo developer has commented on your ebuild.

Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild
submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely
manner. There are simply too many new packages.

Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The
sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to
commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry
into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this
and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =)

Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us.
We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time.

Thanks,
On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team,
Jeremy.

Would adding additional LINGUAS to existing asterisk-core-sounds and asterisk-extra-sound packages be sufficient? Currently we have en af fr but I note on http://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/sounds/releases/ that there are also available for en_AU, es and ru?

ebuild for Catalan voices (Spain) in Asterisk 1.2

Why are there two build time dependencies that are not used at build time?

(Also, since the ebuild appears to only install sound files, it wouldn't be useful to change DEPEND into RDEPEND, either.)
Comment 7 Jaco Kroon 2012-06-14 06:08:30 UTC
Jeroen,

You'll note the submitted ebuild is from 2008, and someone else submitted it. Tony and myself in the meantime have already built ebuilds for asterisk-core-sounds and asterisk-extra-sounds which is already in the tree and works correctly.

What I'm suggesting is to just add the appropriate LINGUA options to that ebuild (it's quite literally a one-line change) and work from there.

My question is whether ca == es, because upstream asterisk has an "es" variant of the sound files, but I don't see ca. Based on the domain name of the SRC_URI of the ebuild above I'm inclined to think that they are the same, but I'm not familiar enough with Spain to be able to say for sure.
Comment 8 Jaco Kroon 2012-06-14 06:10:13 UTC
And also it seems the sound files from the ebuild are equally old ... which further seems to indicate that we'll be better off by adding the LINGUAS to asterisk-{core,extra}-sounds and closing this ticket once that is done.
Comment 9 Vieri 2012-06-14 11:34:22 UTC
I'm the reporter and I can affirm that you can drop this issue altogether. The reasons are:

- the ebuild was valid only for Asterisk 1.2
- 'ca' isn't equivalent to 'es' (it's another language)
- there is no such support for this language ('ca') in more recent Asterisk versions (either upstream or third-parties)

So adding 'ca' to LINGUAS won't do any good unless someone finds a sound file set for this language.
For now you can simply close this bug.

Thanks

Thank you, I shall close as CANTFIX in that case. My apologies for the complete radio silence on your report.

No problem. Thanks for cleaning up bugzilla ;-)
