The current stable version of Kopete (kde-base/kopete-3.5.2) does not properly connect to ICQ anymore. This issue has been resolved upstream for Kopete 0.12.3 (part of KDE 3.5.5) at the specificed URL and needs to be backported to Gentoo's current stable version of Kopete. Otherwise we'll have the situation that I already worried about in bug 151255, which is "Use unstable KDE or don't use Kopete at all". This IMO is still not acceptable.
elog "Since 11 July 2006 this version of Kopete cannot connect to ICQ service anymore." elog "You're currently invited to use either >=kde-base/kopete-3.5.3-r2 or" elog ">=net-im/kopete-0.12.0-r2 that are patched to support the new authentication." elog "For more information, please look at the following bugs:" elog " http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130630" elog " http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140009" I should remove reference to net-im/kopete now, but that's mostly it. I can make the list longer, but the situation is "use unstable Kopete, or don't use ICQ at all." You don't need the whole unstable _KDE_, but you need the unstable _Kopete_ for ICQ support.
Is the newest fix from http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136566#c37 already integrated in the unstable versions?
Just the first part of it, the rest is cosmetic and will be fixed if/when another bump will be needed.
