2.2.2 has been in the public since May, and has had very few bug reports. However, an obscure sandbox violation was finally fixed today (regarding dpkg), with a trivial fix. 2.2.2-r1 should be marked stable. 2.2.3 should too, but as i just got around to fixing the ebuild for 2.2.2 today, I'm 3 weeks behind releasing the afterstep-2.2.3.ebuild. How long should I wait to put in the stabilization request for it? (or do it now, please? ;) ) Thanks, n8

Beforestep stabled on x86 What about the other arches?
I did not stable! Just noticed that is in Portage for five days..come again later, we have a policy to stick to.
(In reply to comment #3) > I did not stable! Just noticed that is in Portage for five days..come again > later, we have a policy to stick to. > Okay... it's later. The only reason it's only been around for only 9 days at this point is because I changed the ebuild ever so slightly to avoid an extremely rare sandbox violation. The original has been around for about 3 months. I'm curious... what's the warning about the pre-stripped files mean? Do I need to remove the strippage from the makefile?
If we're going for LATER please close the bug, otherwise we're tracking something that's not to be done anything about yet.

So what do the maintainers think? Are you the maintainer? (Sorry, no .g.o address, so I don't know.) Why was this bug re-opened versus a new one filed?

Stable request is completely fine with me (me being the only active afterstep herd member. Regarding reusing this bug versus opening a new bug.. Nathan have caught some flack in the past for opening new bugs instead of reusing old stabilisation bugs. So he's just trying not to get on a bad standing with bug-wranglers.
Stable for HPPA.
That's cool. I'm not sure why bug-wranglers is taking that approach, since most people I know want new bugs, but I'll take that up with them. =]
(In reply to comment #28) > That's cool. I'm not sure why bug-wranglers is taking that approach, since > most people I know want new bugs, but I'll take that up with them. =] > for the record, i didn't actually "reopen" this one for 2.2.4. the reopen happened a few versions back, and as mips hasn't marked anything stable yet, it's not closed since. And bug-wranglers tore me one for having multiple Stabilization Requests. regardless... i'd expect 2.2.5 to be out before this is closed anyway. Though, I guess the lead developer is currently skiing in Breckenridge.

Originally, the bug was re-used because some arches haven't finished stabilizing the previous version (2.2.2) yet. Why it was recycled this time, I really have no clue...
And removing alpha, ia64 and mips from CC; they never had this stable and have more important stuff to do...
Jakub, please let arch teams decide whether they want to stable packages or not.
