Description Martin Urban 2006-11-01 09:08:58 UTC
Hi,

I am giving up with Gentoo. I am trying to compile KDE with "emerge kde-meta" now since a couple of days, was trying to do things like:
USE="opengl" emerge qt or
USE="opengl" emerge x11-libs/libX11 or
USE="opengl" emerge x11

But I get allways the same error which is:
!!! Please reemerge =x11-libs/qt-3* with USE="opengl".

And I just thought that this system is easy to handle with some knowhow. But if those dependencies and errors continue with Gentoo, then I think that for me personaly it would be better to go "back" to SuSE :-(

Kind Regards,
Martin

PS: Please see here the output prior to this error and below the emerge --info.

Comment 1 Harm Geerts 2006-11-01 12:21:14 UTC
You misread the error, it tells you to compile =x11-libs/qt-3*
That's version 3

mkdir -p /etc/portage/
echo "x11-libs/qt opengl" >> /etc/portage/package.use
emerge --oneshot =x11-libs/qt-3*
Comment 2 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-11-01 13:16:21 UTC
Please use "New -> Gentoo Linux -> Component: Ebuilds" in future. Infrastructure is not the correct addressee.
Comment 3 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-11-01 13:16:43 UTC
See Harm's comment.
Comment 4 Martin Urban 2006-11-01 16:08:08 UTC
Hi Harm,

does not work!
I did:

mkdir -p /etc/portage/
sun ~ # echo "x11-libs/qt opengl" >> /etc/portage/package.use emerge --oneshot =x11-libs/qt-3*
sun ~ # emerge kde-meta
Calculating dependencies... done!

Please don't reopen, this is for sure invalid - ask in the forums or the user mailinglist if you still have problems
