Since the gnome-light ebuild seems to be fairly well unmaintained, I'd like to propose an alternative solution for the main gnome meta ebuild. I'd like to see the more onerous dependencies - Epiphany and Evolution (+data server and webcal) to mention two - behind optional use flags. For example gnome -epiphany -evolution would make the ebuild not depend on those packages. I can submit an ebuild patch if this is unclear. Thanks for your consideration.
that is one of the specific reasons we created the -light package. before going to stable we should have a -light package ready. ( you can always do a --deep and it'll accomplish the same thing if you have a previous version of gnome-light installed )
