Description Matt Watson 2006-10-29 12:37:12 UTC
I am attempting to install Gentoo 2006.1 on a Sun Fire v210. I have downloaded the minimal install cd, and am trying to install it through serial console. (the v210 does not have a standard console).

I tried with both "2616" and "2617" kernels with the same results. Anyways, here is my problem:

ok boot cdrom

Not that I was expecting different results, but I just tried toe universal install cd and got the same results.

Doing some more digging I see this has been reported on gentoo-sparc mailing list already... but I can't seem to find it in bugzilla to mark this as a duplicate :\

Tried upgrading your OBP? 4.11.4 is horribly old and we've seen many problems with old OBP versions like this.

Daniel, didn't you say you have a v210 available? Can we verify that this is still a problem on 2007.0?
Comment 5 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-08 19:41:54 UTC
Can someone verify that this is still an issue with 2008.0 Beta 1?
Comment 6 Andrew Gaffney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-13 00:58:52 UTC
Please reopen if this is still an issue with 2008.0
