Description jochem prins 2003-02-08 08:07:59 UTC
Hi,

yesterday i tried to use the em8300-* ebuilds for viewing a movie on my tv.
Although the display of the movie was sharp on the screen, it was however
blue-tinted instead of real colors. I've tried resolving this problem by
modprobing em8300 and adv717x with several options, but the problem remained.
That only leaves me to conclude that the selected NTSC video output mode for the
em8300-modules doesn't work with my european Grundig TV.
My suggestion for the ebuild is to either ask the user for the preferred
video-output mode or create the use-flags PAL, NTSC and some more modes(see
dxr3->howto section for more modes and for common video output in countries
around the world).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Just install the em8300-* as normal
2.Create the em8300-* devices by hand or thru defvsd.conf somehow
3.modprobe em8300 and adv717x or bt_some-number
Start up a movie player with dxr3 video output and have that output sent to a
european tv. And voila a blue tinted movie on a european tv.

Actual Results:
Well i get a blue tinted movie on a european tv.

Expected Results:
If probably compiled for the correct video output, PAL in my case, i would have
gotten real-color tinted output instend of blue tinted

both xine and mplayer support changing the video modes from inside the player or from their config files. Reopen if I'm wrong or e-mail me if you need more help.
