Mplayer may depend on twolame and toolame. Is a good idea to set a use flag for these.
For the record, MPlayer will autodetect twolame if its installed, so if you want support for it, just emerge them both. toolame is dead upstream.
The twolame dependency, IMO, must be manage as the lame dependence.
(In reply to comment #2) > The twolame dependency, IMO, must be manage as the lame dependence. > Why? MPlayer already has two excellent MP3 libraries (mp3lame and lavc) and an MP2 library (lavc) for audio encoding.
Because Twolame is better that lavc. But this is secondary. Mainly just because exist the option. (Twolame is only MP2, so I don't understand why you tell me about the 2 mp3 libs... :)).

Anything with mencoder -oac twolame just exits w/no errors. Have you even got it working on your end? If so, post emerge --info and versions you're using.

IMO this isn't related to the opened bug... However: stefano@stefano-ng ~ $ mencoder -oac twolame -ovc copy a_video.mpg -o pippo.tmp ... normal mencoder output, nothing interesting ... stefano@stefano-ng ~ $ mplayer -dumpstream -dumpaudio audio pippo.tmp ... normal mplayer output, nothing interesting ...
