media-libs/faad2-2.0-r13 depends on the masked USE flag xmms. I am not sure how to fix this, just reporting the issue.

I don't see what's the problem here, that's the whole point of use.mask and doesn't break anything since, uhm, the flag is masked.

The problem is that faad2 is dependent on xmms.

xmms is masked now and will be removed on November 23.

There is a new (at least for my system) version for faad2, but it is impossible to emerge as it dependent on masked package (also this package, xmms, will be removed soon).

The problem even worse - if you have faad2 installed you will be unable to do "emerge --update --deep --pretend world", as faad2 reports error (broken dependencies tree) and breaks further checks and installation.

Is it possible to make faad2 conditionaly dependat on xmms? Or remove faad2 dependancy on xmms at all?

As I've already told you, xmms USE flag is use.masked; if you unmasked this flag, then it's not our problem.

sorry, I do not understand you, please, ellaborate more.

Could you explain "it's not our problem"? If you can point me out to whom direct this bug report - it would be my pleasure to communicate it to right people, forgive me for my lack of understanding and/or information.

I see that "emerge --update --deep --pretend world" is not working now and the couse is faad2 dependency on xmms. Could you comment on this?

I also would be interested to know wht will happen with faad2 after November 23rd, then xmms would be removed from Gentoo.

There's no xmms use flag any more, it's use.masked. If something depends on xmms for you, re-emerge it.

thanks! "emerge --newuse faad2" solved this issue.

I also have removed xmms from USE in /etc/make.conf
