Description Zak Kipling 2006-10-22 14:53:08 UTC
I have both the "bittorrent" and "gnome-btdownload" packages installed on my system. It has happily let me upgrade bittorrent from 3.4.x to 4.4.0, but then if I rebuild gnome-btdownload, it wants to downgrade bittorrent again:

$ emerge -p gnome-btdownload

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild  NS   ] dev-python/wxpython-2.4.2.4-r3
[ebuild     UD] net-p2p/bittorrent-3.4.2-r2 [4.4.0]
[ebuild   R   ] net-p2p/gnome-btdownload-0.0.11

Looking at the upstream bug tracking system, there doesn't appear to be any active work on support for newer versions of bittorrent:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1189957&group_id=93129&atid=603214

(That was filed about 18 months ago about bt 4.0.1, and has had no response since it was acknowledged a month later.)

And the last forum post, a year ago, doesn't suggest the project is active:

http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1376291&forum_id=321933

Not a gnome maintained package.

it's been package masked until upstream can get with the program
