Description Werner M. Mayer 2006-10-17 19:52:19 UTC
This is reproducable on my system x86 K6 with 196M RAM, 500M Swap space, 27gb
free disk space and due to blocking packages I couldn't get rid of I used
USE="-X -xorg-x11" emerge -vun system. I guess should have enough RAM :)

After emerging about 163 packages I get:
Assembler messages:

Please note the CXXFLAGS set are ** NOT ** system specific, just plain i586 !!

I have searched bugzilla before with my summary above but could not find anything
related except one post pointing to skrewed up hardware.
I am doing "emerge -vu system" on my other systems to see if bug show up there.

run `emerge gcc >& log` and post the log as an attachment
Comment 2 Werner M. Mayer 2006-10-18 15:17:36 UTC
Unable to add attachment due to reproducable ATTACHMENT bug, see following error:

I have been getting this bug earlier with other bug report attachment posting
trials but cannot report to bugzilla because no commandline mail functionality
available (I use thunderbird on another system and haven't yet managed to get
mail working under linux due to lack of knowledge, HOWTO appreciated on this).

This ATTACHMENT bug is reproducable via links, lynx and mozilla-browser.

I will send the logfile for BUG 151773 to vapier@gentoo.org directly, hoping
to have his allowance for this special case. Logfile is too long to post here.

Comment 5 Matthias Clauß 2006-10-29 04:30:37 UTC
I had the same problem during rebuilding the toolchain.
I continued with the rest (libtool, portage, libstdc++), then deleted the workdir of gcc (keepwork was enabled), then emerged gcc, and now it works.
Comment 6 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2006-11-05 03:14:10 UTC
does gcc-3.4.6 work ?
Comment 7 Mark Loeser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-28 02:48:39 UTC
Is this still a problem for you? I can't reproduce it.
