This is a feature request to fix an issue that I believe could be resolved using a kde useflag. I used the tango-icon-theme package in gnome and when I switched over to KDE, I noticed that some of the icons had not replaced the default Crystal icons even though I knew such icons existed. This led me to visit kde-look.org and visit the tango page. Apparently KDE does not recognize some of the icon contexts in tango, but luckily a hacked index.theme exists which makes this theme usable. The hacked index.theme available on kde-look.org should be included in the package and incorporated via a kde useflag, opening up this theme to KDE users. Relevant information about the systems this issue has occurred on: I use split ebuilds KDE so the best approximation of my system I can give is this: I have the equivalent of the current 'stable' 3.5.2 version of kde-meta as of October 13, 2006, only without a number of the peripheral packages. Both tango-icon-theme-0.7.1 and 0.7.2 were tested for this issue.

Uhm? So we are supposed to Google for the fixed index, or.... ?
The hacked index.theme can be found on this page: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=32288 The exact link is here: http://www.kde-look.org/content/download.php?content=32288&id=5
The problem seems (at least for me) to be fixed in KDE 3.5.5. (recently went stable)

0.7.1 is not in tree anymore, and 0.7.2 will be removed soon as last arch marks it stable. You should be using Tango 0.8.0 and KDE 3.5.5 or 3.5.6 on your arch because it's marked stable. Only report bugs from up-to-date system, thanks.
