upgraded from xfree-4.2.1 to xfree-4.2.99.4 everything seemed fine, but when i tried to launch an appliction (nothing but root window on screen before -- oroborus w/ keylaunch) the application never came up. but the drive was working away. so i checked top, and the application (xterm, gaim, xscreensaver- demo, sylpheed...) was slowly eating all available memory. this was with the nv driver so i tried the nvidia driver. TNT2. Same result. any ideas? everything seems to be running fine, otherwise. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Works fine here. maybe clean out /tmp, and reboot (note that a few things may fail to stop properly due to missing sockets in /tmp ...).
rebuild Xft seems to be the solution. using fontconfig/Xft 1.2/2.0 rebuilt and evertyhing seems to be dandy Might want to make a note that those of us running GKT2.2 / Xft2 / fontconfig apps amy need to rebuild Xft or fontconfig after this upgrade.
